sebenarnya ianya berpunca dari ketiadaan penyelenggaraan berkala keatas cerun tersebut. Sekiranya semua cerun yang kritikal diberi penumpuan dlm soal penyenggaraan berkala, insyaallah ianya dapat di ambil tindakan sebelum kejadian runtuhan berlaku.

Mechanism of Slope failure 
 
Slope stability is determined by two forces, driving(D) force and resisting(R) force.
Driving force promote downslope movement due to gravity force, while resisting forces developed from friction between particles ini material.
Failure occur when the driving forces overcome the resisting force

Setuju pasal selenggaraan cerun salah satu punca. Maintenance need fund tetapi peruntukkan tidak mencukupi atau tiada langsung. Mana ada cerun kat dunia ni yang free maintenance.

Antara punca utama kegagalan cerun adalah air.

Kalau api, kecik jadi kawan beso jadik lawan

tapi air

kecik kengkadang melawan (contoh kematian yg disebabkan tersedak susu, lemas terminum air etc)...............beso....x yah sakap le, tuan/puan pun tau.

 

Tips,

 

1)                   air kalau dapat meresap sikit demi sikit ke dalam cerun, ianya akan berkumpul, membengkak, suddenly wedges akan terbentuk, bukan cheese wedges KFc tetapi force atau kuasa yang mana semakin ianya meninggi ianya akan menjadi bertambah beso macam triangle bila kita terbalik kan. dibawahnya ujung yang kecil, tapi as it gets higher ia nya membesar, beso tu le kekuatan air yang menolak dan menyebabkan cerun runtuh.

 

2)                   elakkan penebangan pokok, atau mencabut akar akar pokok di lereng lereng bukit. Pokok ini sebenarnya adalah pasak bumi, yg membantu untuk grip the soils together gether. It helps especially ketika ujan lebat.

 

3)                    kawasan yang mempunyai cerun yg steep atau curam, jika berlaku kegagalan, contohnya jika ada runtuhan kecil berlaku, cepat cepat tutup dengan cover, selalu orang guna that tarpaulin. Ini adalah mengelakkan sekiranya hujan lebat berlaku, that drops of hujan will act as tiny bullets bombarding the walls of the bare earth.Tarpaulin will act as shield to prevent direct contact between the bullet rain and the face of the cerun.

 

4)                          tutup segala bentuk ponding monding at the top of slope. Ada terdapat case dimana di puncak cerun terdapat waterponding, kolam air bertakung tanpa maintenance  Some are quiet bad.. Bahayanya sekiranya air dari water ponding ini can find its way/seeps  thru the soil menuju ke back of the cerun, especially at the potential plain failure, maka a mishap is gonna happen,

 

and finally.....

apabila kolam air bertakung semakin membesar, mengalahkan kolam renang swimming pool olympic size, akhirnya tanah at the top sudah tidak mampu bertahan, maka ia akan pecah, mud flow berlaku, segala sampah sarap, debris akan turun dengan speed yang laju,............NO MERCY......... mencarik, menarik, mencakar mencengkam  segala pokok pokok yang ada, pasak bumi lantas  hilang, now the bare earth are exposed without mercy to the bullet rain that attack like stray bullets vomitted from the mouth of M16. The compacted and the consolidated earth of the slope can no more resist, water rushing and gushing will fill in all the voids, causing a weak plain. This plain of potential failure gets bigger and bigger...................and finallyyyyyyyyyyy..................when there's no more grip, when cohesion of soil  dropsssss 0%,
