Antara faktor-faktor kegagalan 5S 1. Kurang atau tiada komitmen daripada pengurusan atasan 2. Perancangan dan pemantauan pelaksanaan setiap aktiviti yg lemah 3. Kurang kefahaman tentang amalan 5s samada di peringkat pengurusan atau kakitangan bawahan 4. Jawatankuasa yg dilantik kurang jelas dari segi tugas dan tanggungjawab Langkah utama yg perlu dibuat adalah melantik seorang koordinator yg ada pengetahuan yg baik tentang amalan 5s untuk menyelaras semua aktiviti 5s. Sekiranya tiada sesiapa yg ada pengetahuan....wajarnya pengurusan untuk menghantar beberapa orang untuk mengikuti kursus 5s terlebih dahulu. Sekiranya ada peruntukan...boleh lantik konsultan tapi ini tidak digalakkan untuk jimatkan kos. Langkah ke-2 lantik Jawatankuasa Induk 5s yg menjadi pemandu kpd program persijilan dan juga amalan 5s tersebut. Ahli jawatankuasa perlu ada pengetahuan 5s so kena hantar pergi kursus juga utk memahami konsep 5s. Mesyuarat perlu dibuat secara berkala. Langkah seterusnya....boleh tanya kemudian sebab kalau tidak laksana yg utama...nk terus pun dah tak boleh

I agree with maria Marcus and would like to add on a few facts about getting things done in implementing 5S which can be broken down into three main aspects:-

1. Ability - is what you are capable of doing - we must involve the right people at the beginning to implement the program. These initiators will be able to get a larger portion of the staff and finally the whole staff to inform them what the program is actually about - basically straight forward daily work . once  the staff realises that it is actually nothing new- just maybe alittle documentation & arrangement at the start & then just follow through -In this way the staff do not feel burdened

2. Motivation - this will determine what we do. With the correct motivation and encouragement from the top management staff, every staff will be more driven to make the 5s program a success. This can also include friendly competition between sections & having 5S days for staff to concentrate maybe acertain number of hours each week just to improve. of course some form of prizes will be a good motivation too for the best section etc. etc

3. Attitude - this will determine how well you do it. If we can motivate our staff to improve their attitued towards 5S then it will definitely be a success. Of course the  individual attitude also counts. So personal attention can be given to staff who have an attitude problem so that he/she can change for the best of the organisation.

Bagi saya 5s sepatutnya adalah proses yang berterusan dan senantiasa perlu diterapkan ke dalam minda kakitangan. Sekiranya 5s senantiasa digembar-gemburkan kepada kakitangan oleh pihak pengurusan sama ada melalui "awareness" secara maya, melalui email, kursus, aktiviti, dan sebagainya, isu kebersediaan tidak akan timbul kerana 5s itu diamalkan dan bukan hanya dibuat apabila ada pihak berwajib datang untuk melihat perlaksanaan 5s di pejabat.
