salam,

sebelum jawap soalan tuan kena buat some assumptions dulu,

assumptions are:-

1)     bridge abutment is sitting on piles (obviously)

2)     pile slab are for approach embankment

With the above consideration, kalau saya, I will start with:-

 

a) brige abutment -  coz ianya sits on pile, so sepatutnya tidak ada isu settlement

followed by

b) pile slab for approach embankment - coz its sitting on pile, maka tidak ada isu settlement (sepatutnya)

and lastly

 


c) embankment    -            disini kita hav to control settlement strictly.

that is by controlling

i) compaction       -            defining compaction to be more than 90% (if modified) or 95% (if standard).

ii) settlement        -            Kalau kawasan adalah kawasan yang berpaya, macam yang pernah di buat di projek jambatan Klang, maka kita pasang settlement marker and monitor the settlement. Bila settlement almost zero, then we start the fill and compaction works.

 

Of course one may argue, why not buat embankment dulu keseluruhannya, compact it sampai betul betul mampat dan padat, then korek balik, bina bridge abutment dan pile slab. dengan cara ini we can be sure that the surrounding is fully compacted.

But the question is, the bridge abutment and pile slab is already sitting on piles. It is suppose not to settle. If it settle, that is the piling record fails, then there's no point to continue with the embankment anyway

 

Note: untuk embankment di soft ground, ada 2 method yang boleh di gunakan to get rid of USM that is by

a) soil replacement.

b) soil displacement.
